Ellen O'Connor

Former Deputy Commissioner for Administration and Finance, 1977-79 MA Department of Correction

BIO

Ellen served as the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at the University of Massachusetts Boston from 2004-2017. She has more than 40 years’ experience in higher education and state and municipal government. In addition to her work at UMass Boston, other positions that Ellen has held include Vice President for Finance at Brown University, Chief Financial Officer for the Community Builders, Inc. of Boston, Deputy Mayor for Financial Management for the District of Columbia and Budget Director and Comptroller for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In her early career Ellen was the Deputy Commissioner for Administration and Finance in the Massachusetts Department of Corrections from 1977-1979. Ellen currently serves as board member of the YouthBuild Boston. She also served for eight years on the Board of Trustees at Regis College – serving as chair for four years. She earned an MBA from Simmons College in Boston, MA and an AB in Mathematics from Regis College in Weston, MA.

 

She is now enjoying her family and a balanced life despite Covid!
